Goal |
Since 2015, mechanical thrombectomy has been the standard treatment for stroke in cases of vascular occlusion of one of the main vessels (A. cerebri media) supplying the brain with arterial blood. The aim of this work was to determine the thrombectomy rate in relation to the total number of cerebral infarctions using routine data from eight German university hospitals. The aim was to verify how quickly this new guideline recommendation has found its way into the real world of care. |
Result |
Based on over 37,000 cases, an increase in thrombectomy rates from 4.7% (2014) to 9.6% (2016) was observed during the observation period. The groundbreaking results of the 2015 studies have arrived in a short time in the real world of care of the neurovascular centers studied. |
